1991 Pontiac 6000ComponentSeats:Front Assembly:Recliner Consequence of Defectthe power seat or recliner wiring harness can be pinched or can chafe on the seat frame or spring support rod, wearing through the wire insulation and causing an electrical short. Corrective Actionthe high current caused by the electrical short welds thecircuit breaker elements together in the closed position, leaving the circuitunprotected and generating sufficient heat to burn the wire insulation andignite the seat cushion material. Recall Notesrepair any abraded wiring and reroute the wiring harness using a wiring harness clip. 1991 Pontiac 6000ComponentSeat Belts:Front:Anchorage Consequence of Defectthese vehicles were assembled with rear outboard safety belt anchorages that may not withstand the required load. this does not comply with fmvss no.210, "seat belt assembly anchorages." Corrective Actionconsequence of non-compliance: in a collison, stress can cause the attachment metal to tear and allow the anchorage to separate from the body of the vehicle. the safety belt may not protect an occupant in the event of a vehicle crash. Recall Notesdealers will replace the existing anchor bolts with a new shoulder bolt and thread locking adhesive. additionally, noise control patches will be applied at each anchorage. 1990 Pontiac 6000ComponentSeats:Front Assembly:Recliner Consequence of Defectthe power seat or recliner wiring harness can be pinched or can chafe on the seat frame or spring support rod, wearing through the wire insulation and causing an electrical short. (to see the school bus engine sizes, click on "document search" and then "bus applications"). the connector on the fuel filter was not manufactured to honeywell's specification. as a result, the o-ring may not seat correctly on the fuel line. Corrective Actionthis condition may cause an inadequate seal at the connection, potentially leading to a fuel leak. in the presence of an ignition source, a fire could occur. Recall Noteshoneywell will notify owners and replace the fuel filters free of charge. the recall began on october 18, 2006. owners may contact fram customer service at 1-800-890-2075 (option 1). 1989 Pontiac 6000ComponentSeat Belts:Front:Anchorage Consequence of Defectthese vehicles were assembled with rear outboard safety belt anchorages that may not withstand the required load. this does not comply with fmvss no.210, "seat belt assembly anchorages." Corrective Actionfuel leakage into the engine compartment could result inan engine compartment fire that could spread to the passenger compartment. Recall Notesinstall new fuel feed hose assembly. 1988 Pontiac 6000ComponentSuspension:Front:Control Arm:Lower Arm Consequence of Defectfront suspension lower control arm bracket could develop metal cracks. Corrective Actionthese cracks may result in disengagement of the lowercontrol arm. if this occurs while vehicle is in motion, it could result inloss of steering control and a vehicle crash could occur without prior warning. Recall Notesinspect all vehicles and replace engine cradle assembly on all suspect vehicles. 1987 Pontiac 6000ComponentFuel System, Gasoline Consequence of Defectcertain replacement fuel filters, fram brand name p/n g3727, with date codes x52911 through x60801 sequentially or x600141 and a mexico country or origin marking on the fuel filter housing manufactured from october 18, 2005, through march 21, 2006, sold for use on the vehicles listed above and on certain school buses. Corrective Actionloss of the hydraulic pump motor would result in a totalloss of rear brakes as well as power assist to the front brakes. the red brakewarning light would illuminate and stay on. if this warning is not heeded, aloss of rear brakes at a time when minimum stopping distance is required couldresult in a vehicle crash. an inoperative abs electrical relay could causeloss of the abs function, but normal power assisted braking would be retained.the amber anti lock warning light would illuminate and stay on. Recall Notesthe abs and hydraulic pump motor electrical relays and 30 amp fuses will be replaced. in addition, the hydraulic pump motor assembly and pressure/warning switch will be inspected and, if required, replaced. 1987 Pontiac 6000ComponentVisibility:Windshield Consequence of Defectpoor bond adhesion between the windshield glass and mounting could allow the windshield to separate during a 30 mph frontal barrier test required by fmvss 212. Corrective Actionif windshield glass separation occurs during anaccident, an unbelted occupant could be ejected from the vehicle and injured. Recall Notesreinstall windshields to assure proper bond adhesion. 1986 Pontiac 6000ComponentExterior Lighting:Headlights:Switch Consequence of Defectthe push pull headlight switch may have electrical contacts which allow an intermittent headlight circuit causing headlight to flicker or suddenly go out. consequence of defect: sudden loss of the headlights under severe weather or nighttime driving conditions could reduce driver visibility which might result in a vehicle crash without prior warning. Corrective ActionRecall Notesreplace headlight switch as necessary. 1986 Pontiac 6000ComponentFuel System, Gasoline Consequence of Defectcertain replacement fuel filters, fram brand name p/n g3727, with date codes x52911 through x60801 sequentially or x600141 and a mexico country or origin marking on the fuel filter housing manufactured from october 18, 2005, through march 21, 2006, sold for use on the vehicles listed above and on certain school buses. Corrective ActionRecall Notesinspection of seat back locks will be performed. locks that have bent, broken or missing hooks will be replaced. 1984 Pontiac 6000ComponentFuel System, Gasoline:Delivery:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings Consequence of Defectthe fuel system may leak at the throttle body injection fuel feed pipe connection. consequence of defect: this leakage could result in an underhood fire which could spread to the passenger compartment and cause burn injuries to occupants. Corrective ActionRecall Notesreplace the fuel feed pipe. 1983 Pontiac 6000ComponentService Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Differential Proportional Valve Consequence of Defectthe brake proportioner valves may break and separate from the master cylinder. this would allow brake fluid to leak and would result in a partial loss of the brake system. Corrective ActionRecall Notesthe dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace all suspect valves. 1983 Pontiac 6000ComponentParking Brake:Conventional:Mechanical:Linkage And Cable Consequence of Defectparking brake cables contain incorrect springs. these springs fail to comply with federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 105, "hydraulic brake systems". Corrective ActionRecall Notesdealer will inspect and install new rear parking brake cable if necessary. 1982 Pontiac 6000ComponentFuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly:Filler Pipe And Cap Consequence of Defectunder certaain conditions, the hose clamps on the fuel tank filler pipe and fuel tank filler vent pipe could fracture. the fracture of these clamps could cause fuel leakage at any of the four pipe to hose connections. leakage can occur during refueling, or while driving, if the fuel tank is above 3/4 full. Corrective ActionRecall Notesdealer will inspect and replace the hose clamps on the fuel tank filler pipe and vent pipe at no cost to owner. 1982 Pontiac 6000ComponentService Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings Consequence of Defectrear brake hoses may have been manufactured incorrectly when the metal end fittings were installed. some rear brake hoses may separate from the metal end fittings when subjected to the pulling force specified by federal motor vehicle safety standard 106, "brake hoses". Corrective ActionRecall Notesthe dealer will inspect and replace, if necessary, the rear brake hoses at no charge to owners. |
