Corrective Actionthe wrong red release button would not allow the strapto engage the buckle correctly, causing a false latch situation which wouldnot adequately protect the seat occupant in the event of a sudden stop oraccident. Recall Notescentury has issued graphic instructions to all seat owners who may have received the wrong part. the instructions provide details how to to determine whether the previously shipped red release button is correct. if the wrong button was shipped and the owner notifies century of the problem, century will ship the owner the correct button. Century 4369ComponentChild Seat Consequence of Defectthe red shoulder strap release button can rotate out of the frame in a crash or sudden stop. in this event, the release button could not be activated with less than 16 pounds of force as required by fmvss 213, "child restraint systems". Corrective Actionin the event that the release button rotates, excessiveforce could be required to activate the release button of the shoulder belt inorder to remove a child from the seat.
