tires fail to meet requirements of endurance test fmvss # 109. failure was due to higher than specified second ply angle. consequence of defect: the incorrect second ply angle caused chafing of plies in the bead base area. a chafed ply can result in sudden air loss and vehicle crash may occur without prior warning.
